Course Description:

The course comprises 10 modules covering the full spectrum of clinical research competencies. It begins with an Introduction that establishes foundational concepts, followed by Research Protocol development, which teaches learners how to design rigorous study methodologies. The Recruitment and Retention module addresses strategies for engaging and maintaining participant involvement throughout research studies. Critical ethical considerations are thoroughly addressed through several modules. Informed Consent Communication provides training on effectively conveying study information to potential participants and ensuring true voluntary participation. Confidentiality and Privacy covers data protection protocols and regulatory requirements for safeguarding participant information. Participant Safety and Adverse Event Reporting equips researchers with systems for monitoring participant wellbeing and properly documenting and reporting safety concerns. Research integrity and quality are emphasized through dedicated modules on Quality Control and Assurance, which teaches systematic approaches to maintaining data accuracy and protocol adherence, and Research Misconduct, which addresses ethical violations, prevention strategies, and reporting procedures. Notably, the course includes a module on Community and Stakeholder Engagement, reflecting contemporary emphasis on participatory research approaches and the importance of involving communities in research design and implementation. The course concludes with a Conclusion/Wrap-up module that synthesizes key learnings.
